The Biggest Loser in the Herman Cain Controversy

Who is the biggest loser in the Herman Cain controversy?

Clearly it is not Cain. Not yet. It is the big media, which thinks it still has the power to decide for the voters who is best qualified to be president.

One of the women who has accused Cain has a history of filing charges involving sexual harassment against her superiors. Another has celebrity and porn star lawyer Gloria Allred as her attorney. That woman has had financial troubles and has been involved in a paternity suit.

Black writers like Charles Blow of the New York Times don't understand why Cain isn't toast. Here's the reason: Distrust of the big media is at an all-time high. More and more people resent the double standard with which the big media treat Democrats and Republicans. Think Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and Bill Clinton.

Herman Cain may not end up as the Republican nominee, but if he doesn't, it should not be for the reason that the big media knocked him off before the voters had a chance to decide. This is a preview of their approach in the general election campaign.
