State of the (Greedy) Union

Tonight President Obama delivers the State of the Union address required by the Constitution. It's nice to know this administration abides by at least some of the provisions of the Constitution.

If early leaks are true, it's going to be another one of those "America divided divides America" speeches. There will be more about the unequal distribution of income, which for Democrats means more taxes on the rich.

Most people have this tune memorized. The administration can't run on its record so it runs on envy and greed. If government confiscated all the wealth in America it wouldn't be enough to balance the budget. Overspending is the problem, not under-taxing. Besides, if all the wealth were to be confiscated, what would government do next year when people stopped working, or moved to another country because their incentive for working had been destroyed?

Don't look for anything new in the speech, but look for Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels in his response to stress individual initiative and economic freedom. I'm hoping, anyway.
