School Security Hypocrisy

Here's a little side note you may have missed because of the rush of Christmas. The Sidwell Friends School -- that upscale private school where President Obama's daughters attend, along with the kids of media and other Washington elites -- has armed guards.

Brietbart.com has more on this, but the website says don't think there are armed guards because of the Secret Service. Armed guards are a policy of the school to keep bad guys from harming the children. Some of the media types whose kids go there have been champions of more gun laws and opponents of armed guards in public schools.

Not only does Sidwell Friends employ 11 security officers, it is seeking to hire one new officer.

That's a level of protection that seems pretty secure. Most of the talk about improving public school security has mentioned just one armed guard. Sidwell Friends has 11 and wants to hire another -- in addition to Secret Service. Put this story in the liberal hypocrisy file.
