Redeemer Presbyterian Leading the Way in NYC

So often New York City comes in for strong criticism because of its reputation as secular, even pagan and liberal. That may be true on the surface, but let me tell you something. My wife and I visited Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York on Sunday for a lessons and carols concert and sermon by Pastor Tim Keller that was better than any I had ever heard. The musicians were fantastic; the singers brilliant and the sermon on the meaning of Christmas was thrilling. The service was packed. There was literally no room on the ground floor or in the balcony.

I could sense the Lord’s powerful presence as he was honored and praised. I met actors and singers, including an opera singer and many others who are in the arts and are salt and light in this city. God has His people everywhere, including in unlikely places. If you live near New York, or visit here, go hear Tim Keller, or visit their webpage, redeemer.com for his sermons. He’s great in person and his books are marvelous.

Even the New York Times wrote a positive story about him, including how many younger people worship there. Don’t give up on New York. God hasn’t.

In New York City, I’m Cal Thomas.
