Pride Goes Before the Fall

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama was fond of saying "We are the ones we have been waiting for." Apparently Michelle Obama took that to heart.

According to the Weekly Standard's blog, Michelle Obama told a campaign event in Nashville, "This president has brought us out of the dark and into the light." Could she have been channeling Matthew 4:16, which says of Jesus, "The people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light: and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death, light sprung up."

Michelle's choice of words could not have been accidental. These people and those who support them really do seem to think more highly of themselves than they should. But pride goes before the fall.

The greatness of America is in its people, not in its leaders and certainly not in this leader who thinks he's to be worshipped. I believe that's called blasphemy. In Muslim countries they stone you for that.
