Pray for Those in Authority

October 26, 2006

This has been quite a week. On Monday, I had lunch with defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld. On Wednesday, I met with secretary of state Condoleezza rice. Today, I’m having lunch with vice president Dick Cheney. This isn’t name dropping. It’s election season and our political leaders become more available at this time of year.

While I have met all of these before, I never fail to be impressed by their commitment to our nation. All could be doing other things, earning a lot more money than government salaries and getting a lot less grief. But they have chosen to serve America.

The war in Iraq is a constant challenge, but I don’t believe whether it is a republican or democrat administration that anyone at this level offers anything but their best judgment about how to preserve, protect and defend the United States.

We are commanded in scripture to pray for those in authority. I hope you will for these and the President and will continue to do so no matter the election results.
