The Sunday victory by a socialist candidate for prime minister of Spain will give aid and comfort to the enemies of freedom. The incoming prime minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, has promised to pull Spain’s 1300 soldiers out of the coalition in Iraq.

If terrorists think they can influence the outcome of elections and empower parties and people who cower before them and can be made to do their will, there will be no stopping them.
Will Al Qaeda try something similar on U.S. soil before our election? If they do, they will be making a serious mistake and might guarantee the re-election of George W. Bush, who has a backbone. A majority of Spaniards apparently have lost theirs.
Terrorists must be hunted down and stamped out. This is going to be a world war that will last for decades. We’d better be ready for it. Spain isn’t.
