On Mitch McConnell's Secret Recordings

The major media are making a big deal out of a secret recording in Senator Mitch McConell's Kentucky office. A left-wing political activist in the state has admitted making the recording, which is illegal without consent of the parties. But it's not the illegality that has the media's attention. It is the subject of the discussion.

McConnell aides were talking about actress Ashley Judd, who at the time was considering a run for McConnell's Senate seat. The staff discussed her history of depression and not wanting to have children because so many are starving in the world.

This is new? All campaigns explore an opponent's weaknesses and this and much more information about Judd is easily found by Googling her name.

I guess the media have forgotten all the smears conducted by Democrats against Republicans and each other. "Politics ain't bean bag," said Mr. Dooley. The media are treating it like Watergate. Add this to the long list of evidence of their bias against Republicans.

I'm Cal Thomas.
