Obama's Speeches and Promises

President Obama is making another speech today. What else is new? Speaking is about all he does these days. And golf.

It's about the economy and one doesn't have to be a prophet to predict there will be an element of blaming former president George W. Bush for everything.

But blame wasn't why people voted for Obama. He promised to fix things, and by this year. He hasn't, so the question becomes: If someone you hire to fix a problem hasn't fixed it, why would you keep him on another four years?

The president will say he's making progress. Is he? Progress toward what? More taxes? The cuts expire at the end of the year and the ones for Obamacare don't start until next year. More spending? He's certainly succeeded at that. More regulation? He loves big government and rarely promotes individual achievement.

Even with all the media help he will surely get up to the election, he's got a tough sell ahead of him, especially when you consider everything he promised he would do.

I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
