Let me see if I have the political implications of illegal immigration right. An estimated 12 million illegals came to America to work for people who paid them less than an American would make so the employers could pad their bottom lines. Now that they are here, we are supposed to allow them to stay because attempting to make them obey our laws will make them angry. Furthermore, republicans are blowing an opportunity to return to a majority in congress and will lose the White House next year if they offend the Hispanic community.
My own view is that this is a clever plan by democrats to increase the number of democratic voters. They can’t win with what they have now, so they import votes, tell them republicans hate them and democrats will make them citizens if they vote for them. The fact is, a lot of Hispanics dislike the lawbreakers because they have obeyed the law and the invaders have not.
You try breaking the law and see how far you get. We need to either uphold our laws or repeal them.
