Government Waste -- Feb. 28, 2002

The following commentary is not for young or sensitive ears.

Here is another example of how our tax dollars are being wasted. Citizens against Government Waste reports how millions of dollars are being squandered on programs supposedly designed to prevent AIDS. You decide.

$20,000 went to the state of Vermont for a Department of Public Health weekend retreat. Topics included, "Toys 4 Us" and "Self Loving/Self Healing: Discussing the role of masturbation as a tool for healing." All sorts of sex manuals were paid for with our tax money.

"Positive Force" in San Francisco gets $1 million annually from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The group offers flirting classes and last July hosted a workshop on how to have anal intercourse if you suffer from diarrhea.

There's plenty more, but isn't this enough? Check out the rest on Citizens for Government Waste's website. And the government says it can't afford to cut taxes. I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
