Freedom is the American Plot

One more example of some of the crazy thinking that pervades a good part of the Islamic world is this story.

The chief cleric of India's largest mosque has called the capture of Saddam Hussein "the blackest day for the Islamic world." Syed Ahmed Bukari added, "Arab rulers need not be jubilant on Saddam Hussein's arrest because America would now make the whole Arab world their slaves."

This is just one more example of how irrational some of these fanatics can be. Saddam Hussein killed hundreds of thousand and probably millions of his own people. Many of them were Muslims.

And yet an Islamic cleric says none of that matters and it's all an American plot. It reminds me of the crazies in our own country who once attributed anything bad to communists. Except this is far worse.

America is enslaving no one. It seeks to liberate people who are living under the most politically and religiously repressive regimes anywhere. Radical Islam is more dangerous than communism ever was.
