Extremists Infiltrating America

It's taken a while -- about three years -- but the FBI has finally gotten around to investigating more than 100 suspected Islamic extremists in the U.S. military. This follows the 2009 so-called "lone wolf" attack at Ft. Hood, Texas, that resulted in the deaths of 13 people.

About a dozen of the cases are considered serious threats involving suspects who are believed to be actively planning attacks or are in contact with dangerous extremists, according to National Public Radio.

That anyone would be surprised by this is, in itself, a surprise. Infiltration has always been a goal of America's enemies and infiltration of our government structures, including the White House and State Department and the military, is a strategy of those Islamists who want to destroy us.

We know there are people at all of these levels with ideological or relational ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and other extremists. How naive to think that putting these people in uniform, or giving them positions in our government, will change them.

I'm Cal Thomas.
