The latest in a continuing war in the middle east has been caused in major part by Israel’s giving in to pressure from the United States State Department and several administrations to give up land. The formula was this: Palestinians are angry because Israel stole their land. Give them back their land and they won’t be angry anymore.
This formula is as wrong as saying one plus one equals four. You can say it over and over again but it does not become true with repetition.
Have we learned nothing from history? Have we forgotten that appeasement never works and just encourages evil people to keep doing evil things?
And now Hezbollah, feeling more emboldened than ever, vows to strike the interior of Israel with more missiles. Where are those like Jimmy Carter who said Israel needed to give up more land? Where are the editorial writers who endorsed that view? They’ll probably say now that it is still Israel’s fault because it should have given up the land earlier.
You can’t win… which is why Israel must win this war or there will be more until Israel is wiped out.
