Democrats Wrongly Accuse Bush

Liberal democrats think they have found President Bush's Achilles' heel. They are blasting him relentlessly for his supposed dishonesty about going to war with Iraq.

Would some reporter please ask the democratic presidential candidates and liberal democrats in congress what was wrong with toppling a dictator who is responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of people and possibly more? Would they prefer Saddam was back in power? Do they believe that when the United States can use its power to overcome great evil it should not do so?

How would these democrats fight terrorism and injustice - with statements and the powerless United Nations?  There was a time when democrats were among the strongest defenders of American foreign policy and the military. Those days are gone, at least for the top leadership in the party.

Would someone please ask the democrats if the Iraqi people and the world are better off without Saddam Hussein? I'd like to hear their answer.

I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
