Bush Deemed "Controversial", Are You Surprised?

On Monday, President George W. Bush announced he was re-instating regulations which restrict the use of federal funds for abortions overseas. I talked about this yesterday. What I didn't mention then, but will now, is the media's treatment of his announcement.

All three broadcast networks characterized the Bush action as "controversial" and designed to "quickly please his right flank."

But exactly eight years earlier when President Clinton signed an executive order removing those same abortion restrictions, the big media said he had merely "delivered on his campaign promises." nothing was said about Clinton's ideology or that of those supporting him. They said at the time that Clinton merely kept his word.

And so it will go during this administration. Every major Bush decision will be controversial and not in the spirit of bi-partisanship, while every liberal program will be wonderful and right. Are you surprised? I'm not. I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
