Build the Fence First

The immigration bill is back…with a vengeance. Why do I get the feeling the politicians are trying to shove something down our throats that a majority appears not to want? Could it because they are?

By now, everyone is familiar with the basics: a system that allows the 12 million illegals a path to citizenship, with specialized visas – if they want them – fines and other goodies and for us law-abiding types, we get the border fence. Maybe. We have to rely on the promises of politicians for this. The bill was written in secret. It’s 380 pages long, which ought to make all of us suspicious.

I say build the fence first. Control the border which should have been done long ago. After that, and only after that, will we support your citizenship plans for the “undocumented workers.” Border control first and then we see about citizenship. Got it?

If you are prepared to trust the politicians, I’ve got that swamp land for sale. The public has been lied to enough and we deserve a demonstration that the politicians are telling us the truth this time. Otherwise, we should keep the pressure up to defeat this bill.
