Birthdays Remind us that Life Begins in Christ

Please pardon me a personal indulgence. Today is my birthday and it’s one of those decade turners. No, I’m not going to tell you which one, but I am grateful for the years that God has given and is giving me.

When we are born again, we begin another life that goes on forever. It isn’t a separate life from this one. The two are linked, because fleshly life is not real life at all. When the spirit of God enters our souls, we begin to really live.

That happened to me several decades ago. In fact, this year marks as many years of walking with Christ as walking without Him.

God has blessed me so richly with his salvation and by using me to touch others in my profession with his saving message. Seeing media people come to Christ is an enormous blessing…first to them and then to me.

I used to see my career as an end. Now I see it as a means. God has given me (and you, too) a message to take to unbelievers. My mission field just happens to be the media, but is not less important than yours.

It’s only a birthday and God knew me even while I was being formed in secret. In the end, our relationship with Him is all that matters.

I’m Cal Thomas in Washington.
