Birth Pangs and Signs the End is Coming

The East Coast experienced a strong earthquake Tuesday. I’m sure you heard about it or saw it on TV.  If you live in the East you probably felt it. My house was shaken, pictures were tilted and a couple of glass items broke. The Washington Monument suffered cracks at the top and is closed indefinitely. The White House and the Capitol were evacuated.

Thousands rushed into the streets and some hid under desks in their offices. It wasn’t panic. We have instant access to the internet and radio on our portable devices. But it was a preview. Jesus talked about such things as signs of the end. He called them birth pangs. They aren’t the end, but signs that the end is coming.

As with the aftermath of 9/11, things eventually returned to whatever the new normal is today. But things like earthquakes should cause us to reflect on what is coming, or specifically Who is coming. And He won’t be delayed.

I’m Cal Thomas.
