A Full First Day

The first full day of the Bush administration was most impressive. First, Bush swore in his new staff, telling them he is serious not only about ethics, but also about their having an attitude of service to the American public. The contrast could not have been more obvious.

Second, Bush re-instituted abortion limitations in place during his fathers and Ronald Reagans administrations. They prohibit federal funds being used for abortions on military bases and in international family planning operations to which the United States contributes funds.

Naturally, the pro-abortionists are outraged. An ABC poll said 59 percent support abortion, but also noted that 55 percent oppose abortion for convenience. But that is why most abortions are performedfor convenience depending, of course, on how one defines convenience!

This is a winnable fight with the right leadership. President Bush is demonstrating he intends to lead and hes only just begun.
