Today is the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court ruling that has left 55 million babies dead and many women physically scarred and emotionally and spiritually damaged. I have met them. I have also met women who, in difficult circumstances, gave life to their babies, putting them and, in many cases, putting God first. None of the ones I've met has regretted her decision, but many who had abortions have regretted that decision. They told me if they had seen a picture, or known of alternatives, they would have made a different choice.
That's why sonograms are an important instrument as we continue to battle for the unborn. It's why pregnancy help centers are a vital counter-force to the anti-life forces in this country that will soon come after the elderly, the sick and the handicapped.
If you aren't affiliated with your local pregnancy help center, I urge you to contact them to see how you may help save lives and share the gospel with pregnant women. It is some of the most rewarding work I have ever done. I think you will feel the same way too. Call or email the director of your local center today.
I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
