Christian athlete and philanthropist Tim Tebow recently took part in the third annual Night to Shine--an event which provides a special night for 75,000 young people with disabilities.

The event was sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation and took place last Friday evening (Feb. 10).

The foundation’s website describes the event as “an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older.”

A number of locations around the world held these special prom night events, including one in Haiti, Albania, Canada, Ecuador, New Zealand, the Philippines, and one in all 50 U.S. states.

Tebow was busy flying all over the U.S., as well as Haiti, to attend as many of these events as possible. He made it to five proms, including one in Clermont, Florida where he interacted with a young lady named Abby Dowell who has Down Syndrome.

“Every one of those kids felt like a normal, big-time kid who was at an event that was really special,” said Abby’s father, Stephen Dowell, who accompanied his daughter Abby, who wore a beautiful red prom dress and white sweater, to the event.

The Tim Tebow Foundation partnered with 375 churches around the world to host the event.

Tebow posted a number of pictures of himself enjoying the parties with many of the special prom-night guests.

“I love these kids and celebrate them,” Tebow said.

Tebow, who was formerly an NFL athlete, is now pursuing a career in baseball. Although commentators such as George Diaz of the Orlando Sentinel are skeptical that Tebow has the skill required to excel at baseball, he has no doubt that Tebow is making a huge impact on the world through his foundation and his genuine care for so many special needs children.
