Family and friends are mourning the loss of a Texas pastor after he was killed in a car accident on Friday.

Warren Beemer died at the scene of the two-vehicle crash in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after his Mini Cooper struck an 18-wheeler. Police say Beemer was wearing a seatbelt. The truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Beemer, 52, was the pastor of Healing Place Church San Antonio.

He previously worked as a youth pastor at Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge before moving to Texas.

“We may not understand it, but once again, we have to know that everything that God does is right, and we have to trust him for that,” Pastor Gabriel Swaggart, associate pastor of Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, told WAFB 9 News.

“He left such an impact on a lot of people,” Swaggart noted, adding that Beemer truly “loved God, loved people.”

“A lot of young men and women are in ministry because of him. A lot of men and women are saved, and their lives have been changed because of him, that right there, as devastating as it is, that’s the legacy that anyone would want to leave.”

A statement was also released from Beemer’s San Antonio church.

“For those of you who did not have the pleasure of knowing Pastor Warren, he was a true man of God, a servant with every ounce of his being,” the Healing Place Church San Antonio wrote on its Facebook page. “He was a son, father, friend, savior, and let’s not forget, a diehard LSU fan.”

Beemer’s wife, Faith, told local news that she loved her husband. Beemer also had three children with Faith.

“I married him because he reminds me of Jesus,” she said, referring to his kindness. “He would meet someone for the first time, wrap them up, and kiss them on the head.”

A GoFundMe has also been launched to help the family.
