In Campaign Ad, Ted Cruz Attributes His Blessings to 'Transformative Love of Jesus Christ'

In a recent campaign ad, Republican presidential candidate and Texas Senator Ted Cruz states that he owes the blessings of his life to “the transformative love of Jesus Christ.”

Senator Cruz, who is known for his bold faith and is popular among evangelicals--even announcing his 2016 candidacy at evangelical Christian college Liberty University, has released a campaign ad that has been playing in movie theatres before the showing of newly-released Christian film War Room.

According to Charisma News, in the ad, Cruz states, "Were it not for the transformative love of Jesus Christ, I would have been raised by a single mom without my father in the household.”

On the campaign trail, Cruz often tells the story of how his father was an alcoholic who left the family when Cruz was young. Cruz’s father, Raphael Cruz, who is now a pastor, escaped to another state where he encountered the Gospel, was saved, and returned to his family.

The ad continues with Cruz stating, “God's blessing has been on America from the very beginning of this nation. Over and over again, when we faced impossible odds, the American people rose to the challenge."

The inspirational ad ends with Cruz proclaiming, "This is our fight, and that is why I'm running for president of the United States."
