At least 27 people were killed Wednesday when suicide bombers attacked bus stations in northeast Nigeria. The towns of Potiskum and Kano both saw attacks that Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan believed to be the work of militant group Boko Haram.
According to the BBC, the attack in Potiskum occurred at the Dan-Borno bus station. A suicide bomber attempted to board the bus and detonated the explosive device strapped to his body. The explosion killed at least 17 people and injured 30.
In the Kano attack, two suicide bombers detonated explosives at the Kano Line bus station killing 10 civilians.
Terrorists used a child suicide bomber to orchestrate another attack at a marketplace in Potiskum Sunday. Christian Today reports that the bombing involving a seven year old girl killed five people and injured dozens.
Local vigilante leader Buba Lawan said, "We sent her back four times, because given her age, she did not have anything to do in the market.”
"When we were screening people, she bent and tried to pass under the ropes, some distance from our view. That was when the explosives went off.”
