Survey Reveals Online Dating Hugely Popular among Young Evangelicals

New research has shown that online dating is very popular with young evangelicals, and most have a positive view of it.

ChristianToday.com reports that a survey conducted by the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) revealed that nearly 93 percent of survey respondents said they knew someone who had used an online dating website.

Additionally, nearly 60 percent said that the dating website was Christian.

The survey also revealed that about 25 percent of respondents said they knew someone who had found their spouse on an online dating website. Eight percent said that they themselves had met their spouse this way.

One respondent added that he thinks online dating is so popular because many people feel like they know the person they are connecting with better than they would know that person in a conventional dating relationship.

Another respondent said he or she knew a couple that has “been happily married for two years now. Because of the distance, they would have never found each other without it."

Some respondents did say they had negative experiences with online dating, or knew someone who had, but most felt that this was due to being “Young, restless, [or] inexperienced.”
