Rocky Seto, an assistant defense coach for the Seattle Seahawks, is leaving his position with the NFL team to pursue full-time ministry.

According to Relevant Magazine, Seto has been an important figure behind the Seahawks’ defense. ESPN also reports that Seto’s “responsibilities over the years was the implementation of the Seahawks' rugby-style tackling.”

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll spoke highly of Seto and his work with the team, stating, "Rocky has been most integral … He is the one that does all of the teaching [of] it in the meetings.”

Seto had worked with Carroll and the Seahawks for 15 football seasons, but he now feels called to become a minister.

During his time with the Seahawks, Seto did not hide his Christian faith. In a 2015 interview with The Gospel Coalition, Seto shared how he came to faith in college and how he has learned that faith in Christ is more important than his football dreams or even the Super Bowl.

“The Lord broke me. He allowed me to achieve my idol, and he showed me the idol was hollow. . . . From that moment on, I was never the same. Football was really important, but Christ showed me that he’s way more important,” said Seto in the interview.
