An American doctor for Samaritan’s Purse has contracted the deadly Ebola virus while treating others who were infected in Liberia. Dr. Kent Brantly, a Christian from Texas felt called to tend to patients in West Africa, where the disease has killed 660 people so far and is threatening to reach farther.
Brantly received treatment immediately, and is reported to be in stable condition “but not out of the woods yet,” according to Samaritan’s Purse spokesperson Melissa Strickland. He remains in isolation at ELWA Hospital.
“Samaritan’s Purse is committed to doing everything possible to help Dr. Brantly during this time of crisis,” the organization said in a statement.
Samaritan's Purse has asked for prayers for Brantly and his family during this time of trial.
