Report Reveals Russia Has Killed More Syrian Civilians Than ISIS

A recently released report from the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has revealed that Russian airstrikes have actually killed more Syrian civilians than the Islamic State.

According to the report, Russian airstrikes are responsible for killing at least 2,704 civilians, including 746 children between September 30, 2015 and July 31, 2016.

The Islamic State is responsible for killing at least 2,686 civilians, including 368 children since the group's rise to prominence in the region on April 9, 2013.

The SNHR has kept detailed records of the names of those who died, as well as the location and date of death, in addition to other details.

"We affirm that the bombardment operations mentioned in the report have targeted armless civilians. Therefore, Russian forces have violated the rules of the international human rights law that protect the right to life," the Syrian Network for Human Rights report stated, as reported by Business Insider.

"We explicitly accuse the Russian forces of perpetrating tens of crimes that constitute war crimes,” it continued.

The SNHR is advocating for Russia to be held accountable for its actions in Syria. The case should be brought before the International Criminal Court, the organization has recommended.
