A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted online between September 15-16, 2021, found that President Joe Biden’s approval rating is at an all-time low.

According to the recent poll, which Reuters conducts weekly, among U.S. adults, only 44 percent approve of President Biden’s performance in office, while 50 percent disapprove of his job performance. This is almost a direct swap from just over a month ago when 51 percent reported approving of the job he was doing, and 43 percent disapproved.

According to Reuters, Biden’s approval rating began to drop off following the U.S.’s rapid withdrawal from Afghanistan and a renewed surge in COVID-19 cases across the country.

The poll also showed that, for the first time since assuming office, Biden’s pandemic response approval rating fell below 50 percent, dropping to 48 percent approval. Reuters reports that Republicans have viewed some of Biden’s recent actions aimed at slowing the spread of the Delta variant as government overreach.

As Christian Headlines reported last week, Biden issued a mandate requiring private businesses with 100 or more employees to require their workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit to weekly testing for the virus.

When asked which issues they were most concerned about, respondents named the economy (17 percent), public health (16 percent), immigration (nine percent) and health care (9 percent) as their top four areas of concern in the U.S., the poll found. These results echo the findings of a recent CNN/SSRS poll conducted over the course of a month between August and September 2021. According to the CNN poll, when asked what the most important issue facing the country was, 36 percent said COVID-19, 20 percent said the economy and nine percent said immigration.

The latest Reuters poll gathered the responses of 1,005 U.S. adults via an online survey. Of the respondents, 442 were Democrats and 360 were Republicans.
