The New Hampshire Executive Council has voted to stop funding Planned Parenthood with state money after a series of five videos were released appearing to show company executives involved with the sale of aborted fetal organs. The Blaze reports the decision will prevent $650,000 in state funding to go to the abortion provider, about one-third of the money Planned Parenthood receives from the state.
The decision caught heat from many pro-choice advocates, who argued that Planned Parenthood has is under attack.
New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan said she was “incredibly disappointed” by the Republican-led Executive Council’s actions.
“...there have been no allegations or evidence that Planned Parenthood of Northern New England has done anything but follow New Hampshire law and help thousands of women and families access health care,” Hassan said.
At the same time, Planned Parenthood is facing increased scrutiny in Florida, as four of the 16 clinics inspected last week were found with violations. The Blaze reports three clinics were performing second-term abortions without licensing authority and one was not keeping proper records for fetal remains.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott ordered the inspections after viewing the Planned Parenthood videos that appear to show the company involved with the illegal sale of fetal tissue.
Scott said, “We did the right thing in our state by making sure they are complying with the law… The videos are pretty disturbing. So the right thing to do is to let the public know we are responding by doing an investigation to make sure they are complying with the law. It’s against the law to sell body parts.”
