Planned Parenthood’s New Clinic Cost $20 Million

America’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, recently opened a new clinic in Washington D.C. which cost $20 million.

An article by Philip Wegmann in The Washington Examiner calls Planned Parenthood to task for the lavish new facility which was privately funded, writing in a tongue-and-cheek statement, “perhaps Planned Parenthood really won’t be reduced to the dark ages without taxpayer cash.”

The new facility was praised in a piece by Marisa M. Kashino in The Washingtonian. The pictures of the clinic look, as Wegmann notes, like they are “plucked straight from Pinterest.”

Kashino notes that the space was designed to feel like “a combination Apple Store, Starbucks, and Anthropologie.” This indicates that although Planned Parenthood officials may claim to care for poor and disadvantaged women, they actually hope to present themselves as an organization for yuppie women of the gentrified D.C. suburbs.

Wegmann also notes the conspicuous absence of reference to abortion in Kashino’s entire piece.

“Just like the sterile clinic, the story's scrubbed of any reference to abortion,” he writes, adding, “Planned Parenthood performs more abortions than any other provider in the country. Even Cecile Richards (Planned Parenthood’s CEO) admits as much during congressional testimony.”

Republican lawmakers are hoping to defund the abortion provider either through tax reform or healthcare legislation.
