Pastor Whose Pregnant Wife was Killed by Intruders: 'God is Still Good'

An Indiana pastor is keeping his faith in God after his pregnant wife was shot and killed in their home by intruders Wednesday morning (Nov. 11). Christian Today reports Amanda Grace Blackburn was 12 weeks pregnant with the couple’s second child when she was killed.

Her husband, Pastor Davey Blackburn of Resonate Church in Indianapolis said he is deeply hurting, but believes good can come out of the devastation.

Pastor Blackburn was at the gym when intruders entered the family’s home. When he returned at 8:30 a.m., he found his wife suffering from a head wound. Their 1-year-old son was unharmed.

Resonate Church posted the following message on Wednesday: "Extremely heavy hearts today. Our pastor's wife, Amanda Blackburn, passed away this morning. Please pray for the Blackburn and Byars family during this difficult time. Although we are hurting tremendously, we are still hoping and believing that great things are still yet to come from this. 'Although we don't know what to do, our eyes are on you.'"

Pastor Blackburn said, "I rest in the truth of Romans 8:28 that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose.”

He continued that his wife’s mission and legacy to bring as many people as possible to Christ will live on.

"I hold firm to the belief that God is still good, that He takes our tragedy and turns it into triumph, and that the best is truly yet to come."
