A Christian pastor has criticized President Obama for his comments which are “denigrating [to] evangelical Christians of all faiths and stripes.”
OneNewsNow reports that Bruce Engelman, pastor of Triumph Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, believes Obama owes evangelical Christians an apology.
Engelman cited Obama’s comments at the National Prayer Breakfast, shortly after an innocent Jordanian pilot was brutally killed by ISIS.
"He did it at the National Prayer Breakfast the day after a Jordanian pilot was burned alive in a cage. He lectured us about the Crusades," Engelman recalls.
At the National Prayer Breakfast, Obama cautioned Americans not to use their Christianity to justify wickedness such as what happened in the time of the Crusades and in times of Slavery and Jim-Crow laws.
Obama received ample criticism from these remarks. Engelman said that many Christians are tired of the president lecturing them on what view they ought to have.
According to New York Daily News, at the G20 Summit in Turkey, Obama came down hard on those who suggested only allowing in Christian refugees.
“When I hear folks say that, well, maybe we should just admit the Christians but not the Muslims, when I hear political leaders suggesting that there would be a religious test for which person who's fleeing from a war-torn country is admitted . . .that's shameful,” Obama stated.
Engelman disagrees. “[W]e're asking all Christians across the globe to unite and to demand a public apology for the remarks that President Obama has made in Turkey, and elsewhere this week, denigrating evangelical Christians of all faiths and stripes," he said.
