A Seattle pastor says controversial pop star Justin Bieber helped him answer the question “What is the meaning of life?” Judah Smith, pastor of The City Church in Seattle has been in contact with Bieber for years, a relationship that has garnered some criticism.
Still, the pastor says that Bieber’s public struggles are not so different from those of ordinary people.
"I think people would be surprised to discover that (celebrities') challenges and struggles are not too dissimilar to us, average ordinary people,” Smith said. “We're all looking for essentially the same thing and I think that's faith and hope and love and meaning and of course satisfaction, peace, joy."
Charisma News reports the Smith made the comments in reference to his new book, “Life Is___.”
Smith also called his experience with Bieber "one of the more honest pastoral relationships I've had.”
"I consider it a real high privilege that people would criticize me or some of my friends for befriending, loving and caring for people who, you know, have made some mistakes, or in some cases publicly," the pastor continued.
Bieber recently made headlines for apologizing to his fans for his past behavior and promising to do better. The singer also donated several signed items to a Christian charity to be auctioned off.
