Pastor David Jeremiah: Christians Must Vote in 2016 Election

Pastor David Jeremiah spoke to a large gathering on Independence Day where he asserted that considering the future president’s Supreme Court appointee(s) is the most important issue in the 2016 election.

Jeremiah, who is pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California, spoke to an audience of more than 7,000 in an Independence Day service at Shadow Mountain.

According to The Blaze, Jeremiah emphasized the need for conservative Justices to be appointed to the Supreme Court to uphold the Constitution in its original meaning.

Jeremiah also emphasized the need for Americans to elect a president who will appoint Justices who wield their enormous power wisely.

“We are a nation of laws, not a nation of dictators, but rest assured these Supreme Court justices who sit on the bench for life wield more power than most of the kings and dictators in this world,” he said.

Evangelical Americans must exercise their right to vote, said Jeremiah, and must not allow their reservations about the candidates prevent them from going out to the polls.

“We should know better. We tried this approach in 2012 when 25 million evangelicals who were registered to vote did not take the time to do it,” he said. “The difference in the 2012 popular vote was less than five million votes, and 25 million evangelicals refused to go to the polls.”

During his address, Jeremiah voiced his concerns over a number of issues the next president will have to deal with, including terrorism, the national debt, and the immigration crisis, but concluded by stating, “You must decide who you think will appoint the best justices for the Supreme Court, and then whatever else you may think of that person, you must vote.”
