Pakistani Christian Boy Allegedly Hanged by Muslims

A Christian Pakistani boy has allegedly been beaten and hanged by Muslims for showing interest in the family’s daughter.

According to ChristianToday.com, 18-year-old Qaisar Masih’s family believe he was killed by the family of Mehwish, a Muslim girl whom he wished to marry.

Pakistani police, however, say that Masih committed suicide. Other reports say he had been murdered for resisting drug traffickers.

However, The Voice Society reported, after an investigation into Masih’s death, that he was killed by the girl’s family as his neck was broken and there were marks of resistance on his body. The Voice Society’s report said that Masih had been killed and then hanged.

"We all know who killed my son, he was the youngest, he was the apple of my eye and they killed him brutally and hanged him in front of our house. I only demand justice. I want the accused to be hanged and punished,” said Masih’s mother, Rani Sardar.

"My brother was innocent, he tried not to contact Mehwish but Mehwish said that she cannot live without him... We told her sisters to ask Mehwish to avoid my brother because her father is a criminal and he will kill my brother. But none of our efforts could save my brother,” added Masih’s sister, Saira.

Masih and his family attended the local Roman Catholic Church in Pir Mahal.

Christians often face persecution in Pakistan and authorities rarely bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Voice Society spokeswoman Aneeqa Maria told Christian Today that a report was being compiled to challenge the police’s assumption of suicide.
