Operation Blessing’s ‘Snow Buddies’ Program Helping Seniors Deal with Blizzard Aftermath

The “Snow Buddy” program, a part of the ministry Operation Blessing, recently sent out workers to help seniors in Virginia’s tidewater area who were snowed in from the past weekend’s blizzard.

Blizzard Helena sent rarely seen large amounts of snow and blizzard conditions to the tidewater area over the weekend. Many seniors were unable to leave their houses. That’s when the Snow Buddies came to the rescue.

The group of volunteers shoveled out driveways and cars and brought blessings to each community they visited.

One senior who was blessed by the volunteers, Suzanne Shelton, shared her story with CBN News.

"I just didn't know what I was going to do, I have to get my husband's medicine, he's diabetic… and I have to get it by Thursday," Shelton said.

That’s when Operation Blessing stepped in with their Snow Buddies team. Even local neighborhood kids joined in the effort.

"The thought of young people being interested in a senior person is just beautiful," Shelton continued. "It's just beautiful that there are still people that care.  There's a lot of Seniors who just can not get out there and do this. Thank you so much.”
