Nicholas Sparks: 'Faith Informs My Writing'

A film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' newest novel “The Choice” is now in theatres. The popular author says that faith informs all the stories he writes.

According to The Christian Post, the film made from Sparks' novel “The Choice” is now in theatres, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The story is reportedly similar to the storyline in Sparks’ beloved novel and film “The Notebook.”

“I wanted to do a novel that was somewhat similar in structure to "The Notebook" in that it's a story that describes what happens to a couple after the honeymoon ends," said Sparks to The Christian Post. "Stories like those seem to add an additional authenticity to the story and it was an area that I wanted to explore in while being entirely different than "The Notebook.""

Sparks says that faith and a belief in God’s Will shapes all the stories he writes.

"Of course faith informs my writing and I tend to be optimistic that God had a plan all along for everybody and I think it's up to each of us to make the most of that plan," he said. "So I believe often, God had a plan and then there's free will and I think all of my stories illustrate that point."

"At the same time I tend to believe that faith is less a destination then a journey and I think people's faith waxes and wanes throughout the course of one's life. I don't think there's any sin in that because that's why we call it faith. I think that God made it that way because He wanted us to choose to love Him on our own regard not because we had to or we'd go to the dark place after life ended,"Spark continued.

The Christian Post notes that themes of love, heartbreak, endurance stand out in all of Sparks’ stories. Sparks is already working on his next novel.
