Mitch McConnell to Introduce New Healthcare Bill in Senate Next Week

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is hoping to bring new legislation on healthcare overhaul to the senate floor next week. The bill, written by Senators Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy, is the latest attempt by conservative lawmakers to repeal President Obama’s controversial Affordable Care Act. According to the Washington Examiner, the new bill would take funding from Obamacare and hand it over to state governments to spend as they please, rather than give control to the federal government. However, the Senate only has until September 30th to acquire the 51 votes necessary to repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act.

Donald Trump and Vice President Pence have already issued their support for the bill, but many republican senators have expressed hesitation. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul appears to already be against the bill, while Senator John McCain (who voted against the last repeal effort) has declined to comment on the issue. Regardless, talks on the new bill are set to begin next Monday.
