Member of 'Duck Dynasty' Family Runs for Congress

According to The News-Star a member of the “Duck Dynasty” family is running for U.S. House of Representatives.

Phil Robertson’s nephew, Zach Dasher, announced his campaign bid Monday for Louisiana’s 5th District seat.

“I want to help restore America to what she once was — a nation that builds freedom and prosperity on the anchor of God,” Dasher told The News-Star.

Charisma Magazine reports that the 36-year-old Dasher is on leave from a company where he works as a pharmaceutical sales representative.

Dasher says he has full support of the “Duck Commander.” “Uncle Phil said he’s vetted me for 36 years,” Dasher said of the show’s leader who was briefly suspended from the show that airs on the A&E network.

Dasher is running as a conservative Republican seeking to represent the largely rural area of northeastern Louisiana. He could challenge Rep. Vance McAllister (R-La) who says he is undecided whether he will run for re-election after he was caught on tape kissing a female staffer earlier this year.

The Robertson family supported McAllister that helped him claim victory in a 2013 special election.
