Marco Rubio Says He would Attend a Gay Wedding

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio said in a recent interview that he would attend a same-sex wedding if he was close to the couple.

The Washington Post reports Univision’s Jorge Ramos asked Rubio if he would attend a gay wedding. The Republican candidate responded, "If it's somebody in my life that I care for, of course I would.”

Rubio continued that he while he would attend the ceremony, he would not condone the marriage.

“I’m not going to hurt them simply because I disagree with a choice they've made or because I disagree with a decision they've made, or whatever it may be,” he said.

Rubio, a practicing Catholic, compared attending a same-sex wedding to going to a second wedding of a fellow Catholic; the church disapproves of divorce and remarriage.
