Islamic Terrorists Attack Christians in Burkina Faso

Islamic jihadists attacked Christians in the west African nation of Burkina Faso.

CBN News reports that the masked gunmen wounded at least two people.

An eyewitness to the attack stated that the gunmen took over a police station and told him he would be spared because he was a Muslim and they were looking for Christians.

The gunman claimed to be working for Boko Haram, but whether the attack was directly related to the Nigerian-based extremist group is not yet confirmed.

Burkina Faso has not experienced the level of violence from extremist groups like Boko Haram that neighboring countries have, although this attack happened near the border Burkina Faso shares with Mali, which is home to a number of extremist groups.

A Burkina Faso official reported that the country’s military is sending personnel to secure the border against further attacks.
