Islamic State Takes Hundreds of Young Yazidi Women Captive

The Islamic State (IS) continues to wreak havoc in Iraq with acts of violence and terrorism. In the latest act of religious persecution, IS militants have kidnapped hundred of young Yazidi women, likely to be kept as sex slaves or to be sold for profit.

The Yazidi are a religious minority reports Christian Today, and being heavily persecuted alongside Christians in the Muslim majority nation.

The militants targeted women under 35 in the mass kidnapping; the exact number of captured women is unknown.

Members of the Iraq Human Rights Ministry are working with families of the victims in hopes of free the women, some of whom may have already been married to militants or sold into slavery.

"We think that the terrorists by now consider them slaves and they have vicious plans for them. We think that these women are going to be used in demeaning ways by those terrorists to satisfy their animalistic urges in a way that contradicts all the human and Islamic values,” Human Rights Ministry spokesman Kamil Amin said.
