ISIS Uses Child Suicide Bomber to Kill over 50 at Turkish Wedding

The terrorist group ISIS has reportedly used a child suicide bomber to target people who were celebrating a wedding in the Turkish city of Gaziantep.

The Christian Post reports that the attack, which killed at least 51 people and injured 69 others, occurred on Saturday while wedding guests celebrated a Kurdish wedding.

Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that ISIS was to blame for the attack. The suicide bomber is said to have been a child aged 12 to 14.

"The initial findings of the governor and our police forces indicate the attack has been perpetrated by Daesh (ISIS)," said Erdogan, according to CNN. "As you know, Daesh is trying to position and organize itself in Gaziantep. Security operations have been conducted and are still being conducted against the terrorist organization."

Ned Price, a spokesman for the U.S. National Security Council, condemned the attack and stated, "The perpetrators of this barbaric act cynically and cowardly targeted a wedding.”

The brother of the groom also reported on the gruesome scene after the bomb went off:

"We couldn't see anything. Nothing but body parts,” he said.

BBC News analyst Mark Lowen said that ISIS may have carried out the attack as revenge for the terrorist group’s recent losses of territory in Syria.

President Erdogan has stated that those who incite such violence in Turkey will not prevail.
