Is Pope Francis Leaving Vatican At Night To Minister To the Homeless?

It would seem Pope Francis isn’t about to let his position within the Catholic Church stop him from taking an active role in Christ’s ministry. According to an article in the Huffington Post, it has been rumored that the Pope takes nightly trips into Rome to minister to the poor and dispense alms. Dressed as a common priest, he uses this anonymity to live out his faith with action. Though Vatican officials have refused to comment on the speculations, many believe them to be true. As a Cardinal, Francis would often step out at night to break bread with the homeless as a means of showing that they were loved.

In the past, other Pope’s have engaged in similar activities. Pope Benedict XVI once arrived unannounced to visit an art exhibit, while others helped those who were in need. Though there is still much uncertainty surrounding these stories, they still stand as a reminder to every Christian that God desires them to seek the welfare of others before themselves.
