Hashtag #Iwillprotectyou Goes Viral after Muslim Girl Says She Fears being Forced Out of Country

The hashtag #Iwillprotectyou has gone viral after an 8-year-old Muslim girl said she was afraid that U.S. soldiers were going to force she and her family out of the country.

ABC News reports 8-year-old Muslim Sofia Yassini heard that a politician wanted to prevent Muslims from entering the U.S. She then began to fear that her family would be forced to leave because of their faith.

Yassini’s mother Melissa posted on Facebook that her daughter had began to check the locks on the door and carry around a bag of her most cherished possessions in case members of the military showed up at their home and ordered them out.

In response, current and past military members began using the hashtag #Iwillprotectyou, assuring Sofia and other Muslim children that they vowed to protect all Americans from harm, regardless of religion.
