Golden State's Andre Iguodala: 'God is Great' as Team 'Full of Believers' Wins Championship

The Golden State Warriors won this year’s NBA championship against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the first time that the team has brought home the title in 40 years.

Andre Iguodala was named finals MVP, according to Christian Today. The player said he credits the team’s success to God

In an interview after the Warriors’ win, Iguodala said, "We got a team full of believers. We all go to chapel before every game. We all believe and we all say God has a way for you—a purpose for you. This is my purpose.”

Previously, the star athlete said that he hopes fans can see his faith reflected in the way he lives his life, including when he plays basketball.

"When people see us on the court, we want them to see God's work. We want to be a good representation of what we believe in. When you go out there, you're not just representing your country or the NBA, you're representing your beliefs. You want to play hard for Someone who died for you."

Iguodala also said he looks up to teammate Stephen Curry for his basketball skills, as well as his Christian faith.

"I want to be just like Steph when I grow up—just a God fearing man, great guy," he said.
