In a video announcement posted to Twitter on Saturday, Evangelist Franklin Graham encouraged fellow Christians to mark their calendars for a September prayer march.

“I’m announcing today that on Sept. 26, I’m going to be in our nation’s capital to pray – & I hope thousands of families, pastors, & churches will join me,” Graham, the son of the late Billy Graham, captioned the video.

“Our nation is in trouble, & we need God’s help,” he urged.

In the video announcement, Graham shared that the prayer march will start at noon at the Lincoln Memorial and marchers will walk the length of the national mall.

“I hope that you’ll join me on the 26th of September. Noon, okay? And we’re gonna march from one end of this mall to the other, it’ll take us about two hours,” Graham said.

“We’re gonna pray for this nation. Our only hope for this country is God,” he added.

Prestonwood Baptist Church Pastor Jack Graham, no relation to Franklin Graham, offered support for the march on Twitter and invited all churches and pastors within the Southern Baptist Convention to attend.

“I just spoke with Franklin and assured him I will be there. I want to invite every Pastor and church in the SBC and all others who can to join us,” he wrote.

Ronnie Floyd, the President and CEO of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee, thanked Franklin Graham for issuing the call and Jack Graham for bringing more awareness to the event.

instantHe wrote, “Very needed in our nation. We need to appeal to God alone in prayer. Thank you @Franklin_Graham for leading and @jackngraham making more people aware of this initiative.”

Graham is among many faith leaders calling for prayer over the nation.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, Free-Chapel pastor Jentezen Franklin asked Christians to participate in a 21 day fast at the beginning of August.

“I’ve had God deal with me and say call the Church, the body of Christ globally and at our church to a 21 day fast,” Franklin said in a Facebook video announcement.

“We’re going to pray and fast and I believe in August we’re going to see the back of this evil, killing disease destroyed and we can see recovery, we can see a divine reversal and a turnaround in our nation and in our world like never before,” Franklin said.
