Franklin Graham Asks for Prayer for Victims of Afghan Earthquake, Oklahoma Crash

Evangelist Franklin Graham is asking for prayer for the people affected by the recent earthquake in Afghanistan and the car crash at Oklahoma State University. Christian Today reports the president of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association wrote a Facebook post asking Christians to pray for those in Afghanistan and Pakistan where the earthquake struck, killing over 260 people.

"We know from God's Word that earthquakes, famines, and wars will increase as the day of the Lord's return draws nearer," Graham wrote.

"A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Afghanistan and southern Asia today and authorities say the number of casualties has already exceeded 200. Pray for those suffering in the terrible aftermath and for those trying to provide rescue, relief, and medical care. This is a very difficult and dangerous part of the world."

In an earlier post, the evangelist also asked for prayer in response to the car crash that occurred at Oklahoma State University’s homecoming parade. The incident caused four deaths and numerous injuries.

He wrote, "Our hearts go out to those struck by tragedy on Saturday, homecoming day, at Oklahoma State University. Join me in praying for those whose loved ones were killed and the nearly 50 people who were injured, all in a matter of seconds. Only the all powerful love of Christ is sufficient for such a moment. Nothing else. Jesus died and rose again, victorious over death, whenever and wherever it may come."
